Fuel: Overview

Fuel: Overview

How nutrition works across a client's journey.

Fuel is the nutrition side of coaching. Rather than fixed numbers, it's built around each client's TDEE — you set a goal adjustment and the app applies it, then you track how the client is doing against it. Here's how the pieces fit together.

Setting the targets (base program)

In a base program's Fuel section you set the goal as a percentage of the client's TDEE (deficit / maintenance / surplus) plus a hydration target. See Set Fuel Goals from a Client's TDEE.

Personalising per client

Once a client is assigned, you can fine-tune their actual macros (in grams) and hydration. See 'Adjust a Client's Macros & Hydration', or ask Areela to do it in .'Let Areela Adapt a Client's Program'.

Reviewing nutrition

At each check-in you see the week's calorie & macro adherence, hydration, food quality and the client's food logs, with a Areela summary. See Review a Client's Nutrition.

Client side: clients log their food in their own app (barcode, search or photo). That's covered in the client-facing help centre.

Good to know:

  • Meal plans are not part of the app — nutrition is target-based (macros/calories from TDEE), not meal-by-meal.

  • Training-day vs rest-day macros may be added as an option in future (potential feature).

  • Dietary restrictions & allergies are captured during the client's onboarding (part of the learning phase).
