Introducing: the Learning Phase

Introducing: the Learning Phase

How the app gets to know your client before personalising their plan.

The learning phase is the opening window of a client's journey, when the app builds a picture of how they respond. Every new client starts on a base program during this time, and as they train, eat and recover, the app learns their response patterns — the baseline it needs before tailoring anything to them.

What it tracks

During the learning phase, the app tracks all the health data from the client's connected wearable. For example, if the client wears an Apple Watch, it picks up their health data — things like sleep, heart rate, steps and activity — automatically.

Alongside the wearable data, it also captures what the base program is set to track through journals (for example steps, sleep, medication and supplements), building a fuller picture of the client's habits and responses.

Worth knowing: the richer the data, the better the picture — so it helps if the client has a wearable connected from the start. See the device-connection guide in Settings.

How long it lasts

The coach chooses the length when assigning the client to a base program: 7, 14, 21 or 30 days. You can also end the learning phase early at any time if you feel the client is ready to move on. (This is set on the Assign a Base Program to a New Client screen.)

What happens when it completes

Once the learning phase is complete, recommendations surface — produced by Cue, your AI assistant — using everything it has learned. The client then moves onto a more personalised program, and because the phase has run and the wearable data has been gathered, you have far deeper insight into the client than you would on day one.

For how Que produces these recommendations, see Introducing: Que and its recommendations.

Quick check against the app:

  • Does the client see or experience anything different during the learning phase, or is it invisible to them?

  • Is a connected wearable required, or does the phase still work (with less data) without one?
